Handy Tools for Invisible Machine Appliqué

So this post will be a little unusual – it’s a few links specifically requested by the lovely gals in my Invisible Machine Appliqué class who wanted to know where I found a few of the items I used in class today. Upon discussion, it was agreed that the easiest thing for everyone would be for me to post the links here.

First off, here are the light boxes/light pads I brought for everyone to use:

For a working surface just under 13″ x 17″:

For a working surface 17″ x 23.8″:

And the iron:

And the freezer paper sheets that I ran through my printer:

And the photo of the baby quilt that I posted on Instagram yesterday:

Baby quilt made with some of the fabrics I designed – the colors make me think of beach glass

The fabrics in this quilt are fabrics I designed and offer for sale through my shop at Spoonflower.com.  Please note that the fabrics may be a little more vivid in person than they look in these photos.

And the link to my shop:

See you all back in class next week! 🙂

Beth Ann

When health challenges made hand-sewing (and hand appliqué and hand-quilting) no longer physically viable for her, Beth Ann’s first instinct was dismay and discouragement. But Grandma Baldwin gave her a loving (but stern!) “No pity parties – just figure out a different way.” So Beth Ann turned to her trusty sewing machine and began devising ways to achieve the fine quality appliqué look she craved faster and easier than she ever thought possible. And a career was born! Now Beth Ann enjoys sharing her accessible “invisible” machine appliqué and creative machine quilting techniques with other quilters and fiber artists around the world.

  1. I love the beach glass look of your newest baby quilt on instagram. Your fabrics work well with the modern sensibility of the block design. The white background fabric gives it a zip of freshness to really accentuate your new Spoonflower fabric!
