Quilting fabric can take over your space faster than you think! If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by stacks of fat quarters, scraps, or precuts, you’re not alone. While I love my IKEA storage solutions, many of you asked for affordable alternatives that don’t require a trip to the big-box store.
So Connor and I headed to our local Dollar Tree (with a tape measure in my hand!) to test out which bins and baskets really work for quilters.

Today, I’m sharing my favorites – plus a few surprise hacks.
Highlights from the Video:
• Which baskets work best for folded yardage & mini bolts
• Precut storage solutions for layer cakes, jelly rolls, and charm packs
• Sturdy drawer organizers that fit quilting supplies perfectly
• Lightweight collapsible bins for scraps and batting
• A pool noodle + broom handle hack you just might want to try! (Hint: It’s NOT quilt basting this time!)
Dollar Tree storage won’t replace my IKEA system for heavy-duty fabric storage, but it’s a fantastic, budget-friendly way to add more organization – especially for quilters who don’t have IKEA nearby.
BONUS TIP: these organizational methods would work great in combination with a repurposed or thrifted bookcase or chest of drawers.
