How to Bind Quilts with Rounded Corners – No Cutting on the Bias!

Looking for a beginner-friendly way to finish your quilt without fussing with mitered corners or cutting bias strips?

In my latest video tutorial, I walk you through how to bind a quilt with gently rounded corners using regular quilting cotton and cross-grain binding strips. That’s right – no bias cuts required!

Rounded corners are a great alternative to traditional mitered corners, especially if you’re newer to quilting or just want a smoother, softer look. And the best part? This method is completely machine-sewn, from start to finish.

You’ll learn how to:
– Round your quilt corners using a plate – no special ruler needed
– Select binding fabric that complements your quilt
– Cut and join binding strips on the cross-grain
– Attach binding to the quilt back
– Wrap it to the front and stitch it down with a clean finish

I also share tips for managing long binding strips, improving comfort while sewing, and why this method works great for standard quilting cottons (but maybe not batiks).

When health challenges made hand-sewing (and hand appliqué and hand-quilting) no longer physically viable for her, Beth Ann’s first instinct was dismay and discouragement. But Grandma Baldwin gave her a loving (but stern!) “No pity parties – just figure out a different way.” So Beth Ann turned to her trusty sewing machine and began devising ways to achieve the fine quality appliqué look she craved faster and easier than she ever thought possible. And a career was born! Now Beth Ann enjoys sharing her accessible “invisible” machine appliqué and creative machine quilting techniques with other quilters and fiber artists around the world.
