There are times when we want to quilt, but life simply doesn’t make that possible.
Whether it’s time, caregiving, injury, illness, or just a full season of life, being away from the sewing machine can feel frustrating – especially when your mind is still full of ideas and your fingers are itching to get started.
In this week’s video, I shared a few simple ways I nurture my creativity and stay connected to quilting and during those times – strategies that I’ve been leaning on these past few months.
Creativity doesn’t disappear just because we’re in a different season – it often just changes form.
Sometimes simply flipping through a book or watching a tutorial online can keep that creative spark alive, even when you’re not physically able to work on a project.
Learning to recognize and support that quieter version of creativity can make those seasons feel a little less frustrating, a little more meaningful, and maybe even give you a head-start when you finally do get back to cutting, pressing, sewing, and quilting.
And if you’re not in your sewing room or quilting studio because you’re enjoying the natural world, you might enjoy this video:
