Organize Your Quilting & Sewing Space: My Favorite Tips & Tricks

A well-organized sewing space doesn’t have to be fancy, expensive, or Instagram-perfect. What it does need to be is practical and useful – a space that helps you easily find what you need and invites you to sit down and create.

Over time, I’ve shared a number of videos focused on real-world organization for quilters and sewists – from fabric storage and scrap management to budget-friendly solutions and simple studio upgrades. I’ve gathered some of those videos into one place so you can explore them at your own pace.

You’ll find practical ideas for:

  • Folding and storing fabric yardage and precuts
  • Managing scraps so they stay usable (not overwhelming)
  • Budget-friendly storage ideas, including IKEA, Amazon and Dollar Tree finds
  • Display and organization solutions that keep tools visible and accessible
  • Creating a workspace that feels functional and inviting

Here’s the first video – an overview of my accessible, easily movable setup:

And here are some of my favorite budget-friendly fabric storage solutions:

And revisiting fabric storage with IKEA:

Whether you’re working in a full studio or a small corner of a shared room (and I’ve done both!), thoughtful organization can make a meaningful difference – not just in how your space looks, but in how it feels to work there.

There are more videos in this series, but this is a good start! I hope you’ll find the information helpful.

And if you have tips of your own to share, I always love to hear them!

Happy Quilting!

When health challenges made hand-sewing (and hand appliqué and hand-quilting) no longer physically viable for her, Beth Ann’s first instinct was dismay and discouragement. But Grandma Baldwin gave her a loving (but stern!) “No pity parties – just figure out a different way.” So Beth Ann turned to her trusty sewing machine and began devising ways to achieve the fine quality appliqué look she craved faster and easier than she ever thought possible. And a career was born! Now Beth Ann enjoys sharing her accessible “invisible” machine appliqué and creative machine quilting techniques with other quilters and fiber artists around the world.
