All skill levels welcome.
Once you know the secrets, it's easier than you'd ever believe to create the look of heirloom-quality hand appliqué with finished edges – all with your sewing machine!
And when it comes to style and versatility, the sky is the limit.
I use these techniques in many ways:
traditional appliqué designs
modern appliqué designs
faux "piecing" and curved designs
landscapes and pictorial quilts
stained glass and Celtic designs
and more!
We'll start with an overview of my favorite methods for preparing finished edges, including:
Folding and pressing the seam allowance under with a hot iron
Freezer-paper on top of the fabric
Freezer-paper underneath the fabric
Faux "Piecing"
Lightweight interfacing
Quick-Bias
Celtic press bars/bias pressing bars
A mini-trunk show of finished quilts will be included.
We'll also discuss how to set yourself up for success, including:
Marking tools
Fabric selection
Pros and cons of different types and weights of threads
Needle choices
Stitch settings
Stitching order
Layered appliqué
We'll wrap up with an overview of which methods are likely to work best for different kinds of designs.
And as always, I will be available for questions and follow-up afterwards. 🙂

There is no supply list, as this workshop will be a lecture/demo/trunk show format.
