This class provides a thorough overview of the history, techniques, supplies, and tools recommended for machine quilting, along with demonstrations and large trunk show with samples of a wide variety of techniques. Topics covered include planning quilting lines, marking, basting, and quilting with machine guided (walking foot) and free-motion techniques (darning foot). Beginner to Intermediate.
Saturday Feb 10 10 - 4: Machine Quilting Part Two
For people who have already taken Machine Quilting - Part One. A continuation of Machine Quilting - Part One, this hands-on class focuses on trouble-shooting, problem-solving, and increasing overall comfort level with machine quilting. There will be special emphasis on the use of stencils, stitch-through patterns, continuous-line motifs, stippling, and more than 10 different styles of creative free-motion patterning. Beginner to Intermediate.
Thursday Feb 15 10 - 2: Paintstiks on Fabric - Simple Techniques, Fantastic Results
Using Shelly Stokes’ comprehensive book of the same name as our guide, we’ll explore a variety of techniques for adding great color and visual texture to everything from commercial fabrics to finished quilts, garments, and accessories. Shiva paintstiks do not change the hand of the fabric and are washable after heat-setting. This will be a hands-on class, so come prepared to play! Beginner to Intermediate.

Seminole piecing is a form of strip-piecing made famous by the Seminole Indians, and is a wonderful way to make intricate designs quickly and easily. The pieced bands can be used to embellish clothing, placemats, totebags, etc.; to create wonderfully impressive borders for other projects; or can be combined to make a beautiful strippy-style Seminole sampler. Intermediate.
